Easter!

Wow, I'm a bit late, huh? I thought I had posted about Easter, but then I uploaded my pictures from the camera and realized all of the pictures from dying eggs were still on it! So, have a look at the egg coloring festivities. Henry didn't figure out too quickly that throwing the eggs on the floor was NOT the way to go.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

So yesterday we put the Christmas trees up. Yes, I have two. One is in the living room and one is in the dining room. I have two big windows in the front of the house, and they just needed two trees. So yesterday was the day. We got them up, got the lights on, and decorated. Decorating with Henry is an experience. Keith was so excited - he did most of the decorating...

And Henry "helped"...

See the bowling pin in the tree? The one right above the child picking his nose? That was Henry's contribution.

Henry's other contribution was to try to eat the lights. The child thinks EVERYTHING is food.

Caroline thought all the decorating and eating of lights was great fun...

Henry did not like other people decorating the tree though. I wish I had a video camera - this picture was taken during one of his famous "NO NO NO" rants complete with fingers. As parents we're trying to nip this "no" crap in the bud, but the little exorcist child is kind of funny.

And to finish off our day of holiday decorating was the perfect ending... snow!

Eight years!

Today is the day - Ed and I have been married for eight years. Where did the time go? If you had told me ten years ago that I'd be sitting here, married to someone I hadn't met yet, with three kids, I would have told you that you were off your rocker. Yet here I am. And for all the ups and downs over the past eight years, we've still come out ahead. I mean, there haven't been any homicide charges filed against either of us, so that's a plus, right?!? I would post a picture, but we got married before the days of digital cameras. HA, just kidding - but all of the copies of our wedding pictures I had on a computer weren't on *this* computer, so I have to scan some. Maybe I'll post some next year!

And another hospital trip

So, since 2008 appears to be the year of medical emergencies, my mom felt like jumping on the bandwagon. She ended up in the emergency room (yet another, different, one) yesterday suffering from stroke symptoms. It seems that she has had a mild stroke, and they kept her overnight last night to run more tests. I talked to her last night and she sounded pretty good. She was worried because they were watching Keith when this ER run happened, so she thought that he'd be worried about her. I asked if he wanted to talk to her and he got on the phone and said "Hi Grandma. How many days until we go to Wyoming?" so I'm thinking he wasn't too concerned. She should be home today or tomorrow - I'll keep you updated!

Well dad, you see, the little hand is on the three!

Keith and I have a deal. He's always bugging me to sleep in my bed, so we've compromised that he can get into my bed after Ed goes to work. I mean, really, the bed isn't big enough for three people. I don't think it's big enough for two, but that's beside the point. So he sleeps with a clock (yes, a wall clock. It was his idea) which hasn't been changed since daylight savings. I told him that if the little hand is on or past the three he can come into my room - if it's not, too bad. This morning Ed gets up (around 4am), gets dressed, then goes to go downstairs. He leaves our room, and there's Keith standing there, eyes wide open, with a clock. (Ed doesn't know about our agreement). Ed says "Keith, why are you up?" Keith looks at him, without blinking, and says...

"Well, dad, you see, the little hand is on the three."

Ed, being the concerned parent he is, says "what? go back to bed." Keith goes back to his room, hears Ed go downstairs, then comes back to my room and points out that "Ed is weird, mom".

The things kids say.

Ed called me later to tell me that he thinks our kid sleepwalks because he had some strange conversation about hands and threes and clocks. Gotta love the lack of communication in our family!

Wow... there IS hope....

There is hope for the members of my family! Check out my cousin's blog. They've hired a doula! How cool is that! I really worry when people want a natural hospital birth and don't have someone there to support them, because it's pretty difficult with all those bells and whistles they have in those hospitals. And those epidurals.... so so so easy to get.... and no one's there telling you - hey, you're asking for an epidural - you're practically done! Don't do it! You're doing fine! Don't get me started on the epidurals. Or the bells and whistles. Really, you don't want me started. Maybe I'll save it for another post.
