Nine months old!

Caroline is going to be nine months old on Tuesday! Where has the time gone? She's cruising around, standing whenever she gets near something to hold on to, and claps and waves 'bye-bye'. She even SAYS 'bye-bye' when she's waving, usually in response to someone telling her no.

It's my party and I'll...

mop the floor! That's right folks, it was my birthday yesterday! I'm 29. For real. Don't check with Keith though, he'll lie to you and tell you I'm older than that. Anyways, it was a good day. Henry has figured out how to talk so he's been jabbering to make up for the last 2 years. All day he'd come up and say "Mom, it's YOUR birthday?" like that was the strangest thing he had ever heard. Keith was so excited to give me my present. He kept telling me how much I'd love it, how great it was, so I had to open it first. Guess what it was... a Swiffer Wet Jet! So, and I quote, "you don't have to use a BUCKET when you mop the floor anymore, mom! You just PUSH A BUTTON!!!!" Gotta love kids - how sweet is that? Now, if it was Ed who gave me a mop for my birthday it wouldn't have been as cute. Caroline gave me a giftcard to the book store, and Henry gave me, to quote Keith again, "a box that you push a button on that wine comes out of." Gotta love Henry. I think the little guys had a bit of help from their father. AND I got a midwifery book that I've wanted for a while from my parents, AND flowers! I haven't gotten flowers since I had Keith! So we spent the day mopping the floors. I guess that's what moms do for their birthdays! Oh, and I almost forgot - a former client of mine called the day before my birthday needing to hire me - my first repeat client! So all in all it's been a good birthday!

Five Months Old

Miss Caroline celebrated her five month birthday today. She's a little over 14 pounds and 25.5 inches long. She's trying SO hard to crawl, and can get all over the place by rolling or crawling military style. She's in 3-6 month clothes, and got her first real food today. I figure with two teeth she'd be okay with some sweet potatoes. Happy birthday Caroline!

Four months old!

Caroline is four months old today! She still looks the same to me though - a little more hair, but generally the same. Heck, she's still in 0-3 months clothes! Who would have thought that my 9lb7oz newborn would be wearing 0-3 month clothes at 4 months old? She can roll over like a champ now - it made me realize how rarely we put her down when I put her in her crib for a minute a few weeks ago and she was flipping back and forth like nobody's business. She loves her brothers - they can always make her smile. And she is just too darn cute, surprise surprise. So happy 4 months Caroline!!!

Happy Birthday, Henry!

It was a dark and stormy night... Sounds like the start of a novel, but that's what it was two years ago when Henry decided to make his entrance into this world! SO dark and stormy, in fact, that one of the two midwives got a bit lost. But all was well, and after 4 hours of labor Henry arrived, all 7lb1oz of him. I can't believe it's been 2 years already, and I know I'll be saying that every year until he's 50 or something. They just grow so fast! So happy birthday to my little guy, and hopefully we avoid the terrible twos (but I'm not holding my breath - he IS a headstrong little dude).

Angelic Henry

With the blond hair and blue eyes, he looks so much like a little angel, right? HA. Today, he proved to me that he is not an angel, but he is a genius. The boy has problem solving skills better than I did in high school. I had a mom's group at my house today, and I made cupcakes since it is Henry's birthday on Friday. Henry saw me making them at 9 this morning and insisted on having one. Being the oh so cruel mother I am, I refused. It's one of my mother's rules - no cupcakes in the morning - right after no apple pie for breakfast. So what did Henry do? He took matters into his own hands. He got his rocking chair from the living room, pushed it down the hallway and around the corner, and up to the counter in the kitchen. Climbed up on it, and helped himself. TO FOUR CUPCAKES!!!!! I was dealing with Caroline, so I didn't realize what he was doing until Keith went into the kitchen to get a drink and almost died. "MOM!!! Henry's making a MESS!!!" Fortunately, about half of the cupcakes were crumbled onto the floor, so he didn't actually EAT four cupcakes. He did, however, have a lot of energy today!

It's the weekend!

I just love weekends! Keith spent the night last night with the grandparents, so we just have the little guys this morning. AND, they're both currently asleep!!! Even better, if you ask me! There is nothing like having a cup of coffee without having to keep a two year old from killing his sister. It just tastes so much better! Speaking of two year olds, Henry's 2nd birthday is on Friday (the 14th). I have NO idea what to get him - it's not like he has a laundry list of "I wants" like his older brother. My mom wants to get him an Elmo toy, seeing as Henry LOVES Elmo and sings "Elmo's World" over and over again. However, she doesn't want to get him just any old Elmo toy. Oh no. She wants him to have this Elmo toy. Wow, is all I can say. It's a serious Elmo! I asked if it would change Henry's diapers. I haven't gotten the answer to that question yet though.
In other news, we bought Ed's new car yesterday. He got a 2001 Chevy Blazer. It's pretty much the same color as my van - we've turned into the beige car family! So we're back to having two cars. Since we had to take a copy of the registration to the insurance agent (you know, with our recent car luck I wasn't driving a foot without making sure my agent knew about my latest vehicle!) we picked up the new carseats so we could drop the receipt off for the one that was in the car when it was wrecked. There's an art to carseats - I'll only buy certain brands, and when you need to have three across a backseat they can only be so wide. So we couldn't get the same ones that are in the van - they're too wide. Instead, I was able to get a brown one for Henry and, wait for it, a PINK one for Caroline! And they weren't too expensive! My little girl is going to be riding in style!
Well, I only have a few more minutes until the little guys are up and the day needs to really start. We're going to continue with the home improvement kick we're on, so I'll post pictures later! Have a good weekend!

I remembered!

It's Caroline's 2 month birthday today! I don't suck as much as I could, since I actually remembered this month. It probably helped that we just HAD a birthday, and I knew that Caroline's 2 month was coming up. And it's my niece's birthday today (happy 23rd Ru!) so it was much easier to remember. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to taking any pictures of her today, and she's currently screaming bloody murder so I'm not going to document that. I'll add some pics tomorrow. She's getting so big, though - she was just born!!! And before I know it she's going to be DRIVING! Oh, wait, that's Keith. Caroline will be in Kindergarten before I know it!

Happy Birthday Keith!

My baby boy is 6 today! He'd kill me if he heard me referring to him as my baby, since he is in KINDERGARTEN, but he'll always be my baby! So far he's had a good day - he was up at 6am (what is it with Christmas and birthdays? Is there an alarm clock set somewhere that I don't know about??) asking me what time he would *really* be 6 (8:17pm EST). I couldn't hold him off of opening his presents until 8:17 though. He got a light saber (a regular sized one that he can swing around at his brother's head), Star Wars legos, Star Wars figures, Star Wars trading cards, and Star Wars underwear. Seeing a pattern here? Oh, and Bakugan. I don't know what Bakugan is, either. But he wanted it. They appear to be little balls that pop open like Pokemon, but other than that, I don't know. So he's had a pretty exciting day so far, and it's only 8:42 in the morning. I wasn't even at the hospital yet at this time six years ago (yes, I had Keith in a hospital). I *think* I was having a breakdown in my bed about how I was going to be pregnant forever, or at least until hell froze over. Little did I know!

The Star Wars room!

Remember my post talking about the Star Wars room my mom was doing for Keith? Well we finished it today for a day early birthday present. When we were painting it we told him it was going to be Caroline's room, so when he got home from school today we took him up to see Caroline's new room. He almost died from excitement, and promptly told us that Caroline was just going to have to have a different room because HE was the one who liked Star Wars - not Caroline! So check it out...

Happy One Month (and a day) Birthday, Caroline!

Yes, Caroline turned a month old yesterday. And no, her mother didn't realize it until late in the afternoon. I know she was thinking "I'm sure you remembered KEITH'S one month birthday" and you know what, she's right. Unfortunately for her, my memory and attention span are both shot. She can blame that on her brothers. So here's my baby girl at a month and a day old...

Holy lightsaber, batman!

So, if you scroll down a couple of posts, you'll see the Star Wars room from Pottery Barn Kids. See the lightsaber on the wall? The red one? Do you know how BIG that thing is?!?!? Grandma got Keith one for his birthday, I heard. We stopped by their house this morning (we had an appointment in Kennett, but it was too early to go to it, and we were in Kennett, so...) and there was this box laying in their entryway from Pottery Barn Kids. Seriously, it had to be 8 feet long. EIGHT FEET!!! (Upon reading the product description, I realize it is only six feet. But still. It's taller than me!) So I glance at it and figure it was something for their house. A little while later we were leaving and Keith was out in the driveway and my dad says "did your mother tell you what that is? It's a lightsaber." It's HUGE, I tell you! I don't even know where he's going to put said lightsaber, but I know one thing - if he hits his brother with it we'll be on our way to the emergency room.

In a galaxy, far, far away...

Keith LOVES Star Wars. He hasn't actually seen the movie, but he loves it anyways. I don't know what got him into this, but he has the action figures (may I take a moment to say 'DAMN YOU ADAM' for selling MY Star Wars action figures?!?), the legos, you name it. We're even going to Pottery Barn Kids to meet some Star Wars characters in a couple of weeks. And for his birthday, I heard that Grandma got him the ultimate in Star Wars:

(yeah, if you can't quite tell from the picture, that's a Star Wars room from Pottery Barn Kids)

How did I forget?!? Henry's one!

Yes, Keith, make a little mark in that bad mother record book you're keeping. I forgot to post about Henry's birthday. I've already upset Keith because I didn't have a birthday party for Henry - you know I've scarred him for life, right?!? So, he had a birthday a week and a half ago. Just the family - me, Ed, Keith and Henry. Grandma and grandpa had work to do, and Adam, well, Adam probably wasn't up yet. So we had steak (you know, that's Henry's FAVORITE dinner, right?!?) and I made a chocolate cake. We all sang Happy Birthday, and Henry got to have his cake.

Boy, did he enjoy it...

Then it was present time. I learned my lesson with Keith - one year olds are not impressed by the number of presents. AT ALL. So Henry got three presents - one from me & Ed, one from Keith, and a pair of pjs since it's COLD now, especially in Henry's room.

Henry opened up the presents with a little help from the big brother....

The pjs weren't exactly a hit. Big surprise there. I guess pjs for your birthday is a gift right up there with underwear for Christmas. The caterpillar Ed and I gave him was an ok hit.

However, Keith's present was the favorite by far...

Now Henry can be just like mommy and talk on the phone ALL DAY LONG! He insists on taking it to Harrington's, even though there's a no cell phone rule there. Gotta love my little rule breaker!

Happy Birthday to Keith!

Or, we are NOT going to the emergency room today! Keith is now 5 years old, and of course there were some presents involved. He got the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie, some Cars games, some books, and Heelys. In case you don't know, Heelys are those shoes with the wheels in the heel (hence the name!) with which kids speed around the stores trying to run people over. I know you know what I'm talking about. Anyways, so he got a pair of Heelys. Put them on, inched along the counter, let go, and BOOM landed on his butt. But he laughed, so all is good. But, this was the first pair of shoes I have seen that had a WARNING sticker on the sole. A warning, which among other info, said "By peeling this sticker, you agree to waive the right to sue Heeling Sports Limited and their owners, directors, employees and/or representatives for any injury, death, property damage, or incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of this product." And like a good mother, I peeled the sticker. MY mother is going to kill me!
