My little helper

Last night we were running a little behind when it came to dinner. A guy came to inspect our chimney so we could use it, and he arrived around 5pm so dinner got pushed back a little. Oh, but our chimney is GREAT. Get this - we live in a relatively old house - maybe 80 years old or so - and the chimney HAS NEVER BEEN USED! Go figure! We're about to change that, though. So anyways, dinner. After the chimney guy left, we started on dinner. I was dealing with Caroline, and Keith was busy in the kitchen. I thought he was coloring, but instead he set the table! Complete with placemats, mugs, even got the silverware right! He was so proud - it was too cute. He told me I had to take a picture looking down on it because "that's how it is in magazines" - I have no idea what home decorating magazines he's been checking out, but I was happy to oblige.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

So yesterday we put the Christmas trees up. Yes, I have two. One is in the living room and one is in the dining room. I have two big windows in the front of the house, and they just needed two trees. So yesterday was the day. We got them up, got the lights on, and decorated. Decorating with Henry is an experience. Keith was so excited - he did most of the decorating...

And Henry "helped"...

See the bowling pin in the tree? The one right above the child picking his nose? That was Henry's contribution.

Henry's other contribution was to try to eat the lights. The child thinks EVERYTHING is food.

Caroline thought all the decorating and eating of lights was great fun...

Henry did not like other people decorating the tree though. I wish I had a video camera - this picture was taken during one of his famous "NO NO NO" rants complete with fingers. As parents we're trying to nip this "no" crap in the bud, but the little exorcist child is kind of funny.

And to finish off our day of holiday decorating was the perfect ending... snow!

Home Improvements!

This weekend was the home improvement weekend at the Borrelli Household. We had a couple of ceiling lights in the basement, and a few random wires sticking out of the ceiling in the back hallway. So, I decided that it was about time that we got some lights installed! I went to Home Depot and found a ceiling fan for the living room, and got some paint and a doorbell. The doorbell we had was, well, wires sticking out of the wall. There are a lot of wires sticking out of ceilings and walls in this house. So we took the ceiling light out of the living room and put it in the hallway, installed the other two ceiling lights in the hallway, installed a ceiling fan in the living room, installed a doorbell, hung some pictures, and painted Caroline's room. We were BUSY!!!! Check it out!

Happy Due Date!

Well. Who would have thought that I'd still be here, pregnant. Well, actually, I figure I had a 50/50 chance seeing as Keith was late and Henry was early, but still. There should be a rule about kids coming before their due date - if one is going to do it, the rest need to follow suite. None of this 42 weeks, 39 weeks, 40 weeks and counting crap. And since only 5% of women have their babies ON their actual due dates, I'm not going to hold my breath that this one is going to be arriving today. So maybe I'll come up with a project today. Err, read that as maybe I'll come up with a project for EDWARD to do and I'll supervise. That sounds good to me! A few weeks ago we painted my room and Henry's room, and the other day we had the bathroom worked on (the sink was shot).... unfortunately I'm running out of rooms to paint. At least, rooms that I'm motivated to paint. Or we could always clean - with a husband and two boys you KNOW my house is never showroom perfect (you can stop laughing now, mom). Or we could just go walk around the mall. Again. Or just watch videos on YouTube...

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! We're just bumming around the house today, but yesterday Grandpa got to spend a day with the boys (I guess when you're a grandpa that sounds like a lot of fun?) and mom and I went shopping leaving Ed to do whatever it is he wanted to do. I think he slept all day, but, hey, whatever. So anyways, mom and I went up to the outlets in Lancaster for a day. And went SHOPPING! If you own stock in Pottery Barn, you can just thank us now. First we went to Pottery Barn Kids where I found some adorable white and pink crib bumpers. AND, instead of being the regular outlet price of $72.99 (marked down from the regular store price of $102.00), they were just $14.99 and then an additional 30% off. So, of course, we got them. Just in case. Then we went to the regular Pottery Barn outlet. First off: rule number one: don't go to the outlets on a Saturday. Really. Especially when you're pregnant and not a crowd person. I was ready to kill someone. I need my space! But, we were there, so.... we shopped. I found a great rug for my dining room, as well as a couple of lamps which are either going to go in my dining room or my bedroom. They just need shades, depending on which room they go in. Not a great picture, but you can see a bit of the rug (it's brown) and the lamps on the table here...

Then I got some new plates, and a new shower curtain (it's brown, too, because our bathroom is, wait for it, pink and brown), and, my favorite find, two new red dressers for my bedroom!!! They wouldn't all fit in the car, so my mom is going back up today to pick up the second one. We also got a new duvet cover and shams for my room - it's going to be so cute!
Oh, and I almost forgot - Ed's Father Day gifts. He got a beer chicken cooker thingy for the barbeque (yeah, that's the technical name) and a battery operated adjustable wrench. Everyone needs a battery operated adjustable wrench, don't they?!?
