World Series Champions!!!

Can you believe it? Here, in Philadelphia, the Phillies WON THE WORLD SERIES last night! It's been 28 years since the other time they won, and 25 years since any of our four sports teams won a championship. Maybe the Philly curse has been broken! I don't really know what else is going on in the world, since all the news talked about this morning was the new favorite team of Philadelphia, but does it matter? WE WON!!!! Maybe there really COULDN'T be a building in Philly taller than William Penn! (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read about it)

Keith's School Picture

Keith had picture day about a month ago. He was so excited - got a haircut, picked out his clothes... listened when the photographer said "smile big!"... Funniest thing about his picture is that my mom has one of my brother in kindergarten or 1st grade with the EXACT SAME EXPRESSION! I guess Keith is my son!

Go Phillies!

I must say, I'm impressed. I'm not going to say I think they might possibly be able to win the World Series, because, even though they are 3-1, this IS Philadelphia and we're really good at choking at the last minute. But hey, if there's a team to break the Philly curse, I'm going to put my money on the Phillies. Even Keith and Henry are fans (but they haven't seen a game - the games START after bedtime!). Heck, the games start after MY bedtime - I am dragging these days! I hope they can wrap this series up tonight, because I don't know how many more nights I can stay up to watch!

Quick, Easy, GOOD food

So the next time you don't know what to have for dinner, you must have this. We had one of those nights the other night, and I had no motivation whatsoever to go to the store. So I went to allrecipes.com and searched for something we could make with what we had on hand (which wasn't much at all). And did I find a hit. A Good Easy Garlic Chicken was just that. Even Keith liked it! And it's easy. And good. And REALLY easy. Throw some rice and a veggie with it and you have dinner. Unfortunately, you probably won't have any leftovers.

Rainy Saturday music

Well, it's rainy, the house is clean, and I am bored. So, brought to you by the letter L is some music for your listening enjoyment.

World Series, here we come!

Bet you never thought you'd see THAT as a blog post from me. I'm not what they call a baseball fan. I'm more a football kind of girl, myself. More action, people running into each other on purpose... yeah. Baseball is kind of, I don't know, slow. But you won't believe what happened last night. I WATCHED THE GAME. Like, almost all of it. I'm still a politics girl, so I had to keep flipping back and forth to the debate, but the game won out for more time. I'm not going to start on my thoughts about the debate. Or politics. But anyways, the game. It was actually, I don't know, interesting! I couldn't switch back to the debate a few time because I was so into what was going to happen in the game! (yes, feel free to faint now, Jess. I know you want to). So, I watched the whole thing, right up until that catcher dude caught the ball and took the Phillies to the World Series. About damn time! Now, I'm crossing my fingers that they don't follow in the Eagles footsteps and can keep it together for four more games.
And, I think I love that Valentino guy. Er, whatever his name is.

The Amazing Flying Henry

Man, this boy is solely responsible for all of my gray hair! Fortunately I didn't see this happen, only heard about it from Ed. I'd have more gray hair if I was actually present when it happened. Ed and the boys were out doing boy stuff in the garage. We have an automatic garage door opener on one of the doors. Anyways, Ed hit the button to open the door, and then turned around to do something. Henry, apparently, was fascinated by the door moving all by itself. So fascinated, in fact, that he grabbed hold of the door on its way up. Weighing only 22lbs, he didn't quite activate the safety mechanism and the door KEPT GOING UP WITH MY CHILD HANGING OFF OF IT!!!! Ed heard the opener struggling and turned around to check on it and there was Henry, hanging by one arm two feet off of the ground. Gray hair, I'm telling you.

I wish I was there to get a picture though!

Nifty Widgits. Or gadgets. Or whatever.

I am in love with the gadgets on Blogger! Well, maybe they're called widgits. Whatever - I love them no matter what their name is! I especially love the Followers doohickey. I am so nosy anyways, that being able to see who reads my blog is just too cool. So feel free to click the little 'follow now' link over there on the left so I can see you, too. And the list of blogs I read? Priceless, because now I can see what's been updated since the last time I read, so I don't have to go through a million blogs in the hopes that some were updated. There are so many more gadgets which are just too cool - beware, I might add them all lol. I might just need to get out more, now that I think about it.

I remembered!

It's Caroline's 2 month birthday today! I don't suck as much as I could, since I actually remembered this month. It probably helped that we just HAD a birthday, and I knew that Caroline's 2 month was coming up. And it's my niece's birthday today (happy 23rd Ru!) so it was much easier to remember. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to taking any pictures of her today, and she's currently screaming bloody murder so I'm not going to document that. I'll add some pics tomorrow. She's getting so big, though - she was just born!!! And before I know it she's going to be DRIVING! Oh, wait, that's Keith. Caroline will be in Kindergarten before I know it!

Braces

So far, I've been thanking my lucky stars that Keith inherited his father's teeth. They're straight, spaced evenly, look as though they won't need braces. Having had braces myself for 5 years (and 3 different orthodontists!), I am on cloud nine that we might avoid them for at least one of our children. However, Keith is a different story. I guess some kid on his bus has braces, and Keith thinks they are the coolest thing ever. So cool, in fact, that when I said nope, sorry, you can't have braces for your birthday, he went and made his own.

Friday Five

An email group I'm on has a "Friday Five". You list five things every Friday (I bet you can't guess where the name came from!) that you're thankful for. So, here's mine! Anyone want to join me?

1. My kids are healthy. Banged up and bruised usually, but generally healthy.
2. My husband has a job, and brings home enough money that I can stay (mostly) home.
3. When I DO work, I absolutely freaking LOVE my job. LOVE IT.
4. My parents have someone come mow the (huge) lawn so we don't have to.
5. It's finally fall. I love the fall.

Next?

Things you never thought you'd say before kids

"Why does your brother have a lego stuck up his nose?"

yeah. Enough said. So what have you said that you never thought you'd ever say (let alone NEED to say)?

Hey, this looks good!

And Ed just LOVES buffalo chicken, AND he's Italian... I'm thinking I need to break out the crockpot for this!

Buffalo Chicken Lasagna

Happy Birthday Keith!

My baby boy is 6 today! He'd kill me if he heard me referring to him as my baby, since he is in KINDERGARTEN, but he'll always be my baby! So far he's had a good day - he was up at 6am (what is it with Christmas and birthdays? Is there an alarm clock set somewhere that I don't know about??) asking me what time he would *really* be 6 (8:17pm EST). I couldn't hold him off of opening his presents until 8:17 though. He got a light saber (a regular sized one that he can swing around at his brother's head), Star Wars legos, Star Wars figures, Star Wars trading cards, and Star Wars underwear. Seeing a pattern here? Oh, and Bakugan. I don't know what Bakugan is, either. But he wanted it. They appear to be little balls that pop open like Pokemon, but other than that, I don't know. So he's had a pretty exciting day so far, and it's only 8:42 in the morning. I wasn't even at the hospital yet at this time six years ago (yes, I had Keith in a hospital). I *think* I was having a breakdown in my bed about how I was going to be pregnant forever, or at least until hell froze over. Little did I know!

The Star Wars room!

Remember my post talking about the Star Wars room my mom was doing for Keith? Well we finished it today for a day early birthday present. When we were painting it we told him it was going to be Caroline's room, so when he got home from school today we took him up to see Caroline's new room. He almost died from excitement, and promptly told us that Caroline was just going to have to have a different room because HE was the one who liked Star Wars - not Caroline! So check it out...

I love Nigeria!

No, really, I do. I mean, where else would I get my daily (some days hourly) dose of humor if it wasn't for the small (??? I'm guessing here. I don't actually know too much about Nigeria, other than I'm thinking I'm NOT related to all these dead rich people there) country which appears to have some type of epidemic going on. I mean, what else could explain all of these dead people with no next of kin and millions of dollars? I NEVER KNEW I had so many long lost relatives. Oh wait, maybe I'm not related to them... maybe our last names just have a letter in common, and that entitles me to their huge inheritance. Who knows. But anyways, you have to love the stories they come up with. My absolute favorites are the ones which start "Dear Sister in Christ." Those ones REALLY crack me up. No one addresses me as their dear sister in Christ except for random people from Nigeria looking for someone to dump millions of US dollars onto. Anyways, for those of you who don't get Nigeria letters (of course, if you don't get a Nigeria letter every once in a while I'm thinking you're not reading my blog, because you probably don't have email, or, for that matter, a computer), here you go. Have a laugh!
Dear Sir/Madam,

I am highly delighted to be in contact with you and sorry
for the embarrassment this mail might be to you as we have
not met or known each other before but please feel free to
write me back and let me know if you can be of help.

I am Mr. Don Williams. I was a good friend to Late Mr. Roy
J. a national of your country, who until his death has no
wife nor son or daughter to claim his assets hence he was
buried here.

He was a contractor and has spent most of his life in my
country Nigeria. Mr. Roy J. were involved in a car accident
along Benin/Onitsha express road and unfortunately lost his
life on the 27th day of September 2006 at Onitsha. Since
then I have made several enquiries to your country embassy
to locate any of my friends extended relatives, this has
also proved unsuccessful hence: he has no next-of-kin at the
time of his death.

After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to
contact you since all my effort to trace or locate any
member of his family failed me so that you as a foreigner
will assist me as my late friend next-of-kin in repatriating
the assets and Capital valued at US$6.5 million left behind
by my friend before it gets confiscated by the bank where
these huge deposits were lodged as treasury bills.

The said Bank in Nigeria has issued me a notice to provide
the next of Kin or have the Treasury bill confiscated. Since
I have been unsuccessful in locating any of my friend's
elatives for over three Months now, I seek the consent to
present you as the Next-of-kin to the deceased since you has
the same last name with my late friend, so that the proceeds
ofthis treasury bill can be paid to you.

Therefore, on receipt of your positive response, we shall
then discuss the sharing ratio and modalities for claim. I
have all the necessary information needed to back you up for
the claim. All I require from you is your honest cooperation
to enable us see this transaction through.

I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate
arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the
law. Reply through my alternative e-mail address:
don_williams2000@hotmail.com

I wait to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Mr Don Williams

A song for Caroline

Well, another one :)
